The Prodigy and Calvin Harris to headline Creamfields Abu Dhabi 2013

After months of anticipation the line-up for this year’s Creamfield’s Abu Dhabi has been announced – and it’s safe to say it was worth the wait.

A man who has crafted hit tunes for the likes of Rihanna, Kylie Minogue, Cheryl Cole and Example, there are few electronic acts in the world who can top a bill over Calvin Harris right now.

But in Abu Dhabi this December the Scottish producing mastermind will play second fiddle to one of the biggest dance groups in the world: The Prodigy.

Emerging from the UK’s Essex in the early 1990s, and led by eccentric frontman Liam Howlett, the trio proceeded to trounce the charts throughout the decade and, alongside a fresh wave of UK electronic acts including Fatboy Slim and The Chemical Brothers, pioneer a new subgenre of hook-heavy, rock-influenced dance music. They play Creamfields Abu Dhabi after headlining the original UK version of the festival this summer, where they received rave reviews.

But the vintage act will have competition on the night from the razor-sharp contemporary Harris, who played the first ever Abu Dhabi take of the festival back in 2009. Since then Harris’ star has only flown higher, scoring a string of ten UK top ten singles (and two number one albums) with his own brand of radio-friendly electro hooks and beats.

Organisers have said more acts are to be announced.

Both acts will follow the likes of Tiësto, David Guetta and Armin Van Buuren, who have headlined previous events.

Creamfields Abu Dhabi takes place on Friday December 13. Tickets, starting from Dhs275, from www.ticketmaster.ae.
