“It’s a dark comedy, and the producers believed that it would be capable of reaching its intended viewers through its OTT medium. There were discussions with various players, and it’s now Netflix that has landed the rights to stream exclusively. The film is being sold for $80 million, being one of the most lucrative deals for a female-led film,” said a source familiar with the process.

The film will be available on Amazon Prime this summer and is in the post-production stage. The source says it’s in the same zone as the soon-to-be-released Gehraiyaan directed by Deepika Padukone. The film earned between 80-85 crores for the Amazon Prime premiere. It was an element of Dharma Productions deal with the streaming service, which gained massive profit from the Shershaah. In addition, Dharma creates a variety of other original tracks on Amazon, and we’ll be providing more information on this soon.
