The photo above shows Bieber during his world tour concert in Beijing this September, and it’s clear he’s put on some major mass in the past year or two. “I have been working out in the gym, getting bigger, trying to get sexy for the ladies,” Bieber told Healthy Celeb. Bieber started working with personal trainer Patrick Nilsson in September of 2012.
“Justin was about 120 pounds when we started,” Nilsson told Newsday. “I want to put at least 20 more pounds on him.” The pop star is currently 5-foot-9 and weighs 137 pounds. They train five times a week, 40 minutes at a time — regardless of whether or not Bieber is on tour. And if it wasn’t obvious already, Bieber focuses on his upper body. But because of Bieber’s already active life, he doesn’t spend a lot of time working on cardio. “I want to put some size on him. His cardiac output is so high already,” says Nilsson.
His eating regime? Not too strict. Nilsson explains, “He’s the only client I allow to have McDonald’s whenever he wants. But he also likes chicken breast, whitefish, salmon, turkey, steak, rice, mashed and regular potatoes and weird greens like cauliflower.” It is more important, he says, that Bieber eats at all.
